What does miRNA mean?

MicroRNA (miRNA) or micro-Ribonucleic Acid, is a group of non-coding Ribonucleic Acid (ncRNA) that act as regulators of gene expression.
miRNA is found in plants, animals, and some viruses. It plays an important role in many biological processes, including differentiation and development, cell signaling, and response to infection.

A non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is a class of Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) molecule that is not translated into a protein.
Gene expression is the process by which information encoded in a gene is used to synthesize a functional gene product, such as a protein or ncRNA.
