What does UPF mean?
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) is a rating system used to measure the effectiveness of textiles and clothing in protecting against Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
Similar to the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) used in sunscreen, UPF indicates how much UV radiation a fabric allows to penetrate through to the skin.
Example:
Clothing with a UPF rating of 50 allows only 1/50th of the UV radiation to pass through and blocks over 99.5% of UV rays, providing excellent protection.
The higher the UPF rating, the greater the protection against UV radiation.
