What does UDIMM mean?

Unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM), also known as Unregistered DIMM (UDIMM) is a Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) that is unbuffered and unregistered and thus does not come with any buffer or register between the memory controller and the Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) modules. Since there is no register or buffer in a UDIMM there will be an increased electrical load on the system.
UDIMM is no longer used because of its lower capacity and bandwidth capabilities.
