What does TFT mean?

Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) is a type of Field-Effect Transistor (FET) manufactured by depositing thin-film of semiconductor layer along with the dielectric layer & metallic connections over a supporting substrate. It is widely used in flat panel display. The Thin-Film Transistor Liquid-Crystal Display (TFT LCD) is an active matrix display which means that they can simultaneously retain certain pixels on a screen while also addressing other pixels. In a TFT LCD, each pixel of the screen is controlled by a transistor which makes the pixel to be turned on and off at a faster rate. It also refreshes more quickly than a regular LCD display and shows motion more smoothly.
