In 1919, Mahashay Chuni Lal founded MDH in Sialkot, Punjab Province, British India. Later his son Mahashay Dharampal Gulati moved to Delhi after the partition of India and expanded the business. The name MDH stands for Mahashian Di Hatti, which is Punjabi for the “shop of a respectable man”.
