What does LSD mean?

Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is a type of automotive differential that allows the two output shafts (axles) to rotate at different speeds while limiting the maximum difference between them.
The main purpose of an LSD is to improve traction and handling by preventing one wheel from spinning excessively, especially during acceleration or when traction conditions are uneven.
In a standard open differential, if one wheel loses traction, the majority of power is transferred to that wheel, leading to wheel spin. In contrast, an LSD limits this wheel spin by transferring torque to the wheel with more traction, thus improving overall traction and stability.
