What does CHAdeMO mean?

CHAdeMO CHAdeMO is a Direct Current (DC) charging standard for electric vehicles. It was developed in 2010 by a collaboration of Japanese Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturers and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).
CHAdeMO is short for CHArge de MOve, which means "charge for moving" and is derived from the Japanese phrase “Ocha demo ikagadesu ka”(おちゃでもいかがですか), translating to English as "How about a cup of tea?", referring to the time it would take to charge a car.
Some of the major EV brands that offer vehicles with CHAdeMO compatibility include Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda, and others.
