Arginine Vasopressin (AVP) is a peptide neurohormone involved in a variety of physiological and behavioral actions. AVP is synthesized in the hypothalamus, then transported via axons to the posterior pituitary, which releases it into the blood.
AVP is the major physiological regulator of renal water excretion and blood volume.
