What does AWD mean?
All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is a four-wheeled vehicle with a drivetrain that allows all four wheels to receive torque from the engine. An AWD vehicle drives all of the wheels all of the time while a 4WD (Four by Four or 4×4) vehicle uses a driver-selectable system that mechanically engages the drive to all four wheels. A Full-Time 4WD can be disengaged and the centre differential can be locked, essentially turning it into regular 4WD. On the other hand, AWD cannot be disengaged and differentials cannot be locked.
