What does VATS mean?
Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) is a minimally invasive thoracic surgery procedure for diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions involving the chest area.
VATS is done through small incisions in the chest. A tiny camera (thoracoscope) and surgical instruments are inserted through the chest wall. The surgeons are able to use live video imaging on a screen to perform procedures inside the chest.
