Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST) or Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope–South, is an optic robotic telescope at La Silla Observatory in Chile operated by the European Southern Observatory (ESO). TRAPPIST is devoted to the detection and study of planetary systems. The telescope TRAPPIST–South is actually controlled from Liege, Belgium. The name TRAPPIST was given to the telescope to underline the Belgian origin of the project. Trappist beers are famous all around the world and most of them are Belgian.
