What does PURA mean?
Provision of Urban Amenities to Rural Areas (PURA) is a scheme re-launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India during the remaining period of the eleventh five-year Plan with support from the Department of Economic Affairs and the technical assistance of the Asian Development Bank. Its aim is to generating employment and enhance rural prosperity. The concept was given by the former president of India, Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam.
