What does PMPO mean?
Peak Music Power Output (PMPO) is the maximum power output the speaker can produce at it’s peak, only for a fraction of a time under ideal conditions. But these ideal conditions are next to impossible to achieve in a home, where the speaker system is set up. PMPO is a non standard specification use to get higher figures for audio equipments for advertising purposes. The alternative to PMPO is Root Mean Square (RMS) Watts, which is an accurate mathematical representation of a speaker’s power output rating measured over a long period of time rather than a few microseconds.
