What does MAU mean?
Media Access Unit (MAU) or MultiStation Access Unit (MSAU), is a device that enables a network device to be connected to multiple network stations in a star topology. There are two types of MAUs, active and passive. Active MAUs are electrically powered from a separate source and passive MAUs run on the power from the network connections.
