Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform (LASER) is a public/private partnership launched in 1999 using a science education reform model developed by the Smithsonian Science Education Center (SSEC). The model describes the infrastructure for transforming science education, which includes: research-based, inquiry-driven curriculum; professional development; materials support; administrative and community support; and appropriate assessment.
