What does KB mean?
Kilobyte (kB) is a unit of digital information or computer storage. Although the prefix kilo- means 1000, the term kilobyte have historically been used to refer to either 1000 bytes or 1024 bytes, dependent upon context, in the fields of computer science and information technology.
When referring to data transfer rates and hard disk drive storage size, "kilobyte" always means 1000 bytes. Random-access memory capacity, such as CPU cache measurements, are always stated in multiples of 1024 or 210 bytes, due to the binary addressing of memory.
Note:
In the International System of Quantities (ISQ), the kilobyte (kB) is 1000 bytes, while the kibibyte (KiB) is 1024 bytes.
