What does IDE mean?
Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) is an interface standard for the connection of storage devices such as hard disks and optical disc drives in computers. IDE is different from the Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) and Enhanced Small Device Interface (ESDI) because its controllers are integrated into the drive itself which means that drivers can connect directly to the motherboard or controller.
