European Remote-sensing Satellite (ERS) was the European Space Agency’s satellite programme, which was used for remote sensing of the earth’s surface. ERS’s are intended for global measurements of sea wind and waves, ocean and ice monitoring, coastal studies and land sensing using active and passive microwave remote sensing systems.
