What does CT mean?
Current Transformer (CT) is a device used for the measurement of electric currents. CT is used in places where the current in a circuit is too high to measure directly with a meter, a current transformer produces a reduced current proportional to the current in the circuit, which can be conveniently connected to measuring and recording instruments. CT also isolates the measuring instruments. Current transformers are commonly used in metering and protective relays in the electrical power systems.
