What does BS6 mean?

Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) or Bharat Stage VI (BS VI), is an emission standard. Bharat Stage (BS) norms are emission standards instituted by the Government of India to regulate the output of air pollutants from a motor vehicle. BS 6 is quite similar to the European Union’s Euro 6. BS6 engines emit less amount of toxic gases than BS4 engines.
