What does ARP mean?

Advance Reservation Period (ARP) refers to the time duration between the date when a travel service becomes available for booking and the actual date of the travel service.
ARP for booking train tickets in Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) depends on the class of travel and ARP for Tatkal booking is much shorter than the regular booking period.
For most long-distance trains in Indian Railways, the ARP for booking train tickets in IRCTC opens 120 days prior to the date of the journey. However, the Tatkal booking for most long-distance trains in Indian Railways opens one day in advance of the actual date of the journey.
