What does ZSI mean?

Zone-Selective Interlocking (ZSI) is an interlocking system used to enhance the selective coordination level of electrical distribution systems that allows an upstream breaker to trip instantaneously on a fault in its zone while maintaining coordination with downstream breakers.
ZSI allows breakers to communicate with each other so that a short-circuit or ground fault will be cleared by the breaker closest to the fault in the minimum time.
