Tantalum (Ta) is a chemical element with atomic number 73. Tantalum was discovered by Anders Ekeberg in 1802 in Sweden. The name Tantalum is derived from the legendary Greek figure King Tantalus. The Greek word “Tantalos” meaning “father of Niobe”, tantalum is closely related to niobium in the periodic table.
