What does SDI mean?
Serial Digital Interface (SDI) is a digital transmission interface for video signals over coaxial cable. It uses standard coaxial video cables with professional Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connectors to carry video that is encoded as a digital data stream. It is widely used for the transmission of uncompressed, unencrypted digital video signals for professional broadcasting.
SDI was first standardized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) in 1989.
