What does SCRA mean?
Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on behalf of Indian Railways for recruitment of candidates into the special class apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways. The Educational prerequisite is a first-class or second class pass in the higher secondary (12 years) examination or its equivalent with mathematics, physics, and chemistry as subjects. The selected candidates are trained by Indian Railways at its own cost. On successful completion of four years of apprenticeship, they are awarded Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and are absorbed as Group A Officers in the Indian Railways.
