What does RSVY mean?
Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana (RSVY) was initiated by Planning Commission, Government of India during the Tenth Five Year Plan period. RSVY was initiated with the main objective of putting in place programmes and policies with the joint efforts of the Centre and the States which would remove barriers to growth, accelerate the development process and improve the quality of life of the people. The scheme also aims at focused development programmes for backward areas which help reduce imbalances and speed up development. The main objectives of the scheme are to address the problems of low agricultural productivity, unemployment and to fill critical gaps in physical and social infrastructure.
