What does POP mean?

Plaster of Paris (POP) is a fine white powder, made from gypsum by heating the mineral gypsum. When gypsum is heated to about 150°C it losses water and produces the powder, plaster of Paris. When water is added to the plaster of Paris powder it rehydrates (absorbs water) and quickly hardens. It is used in sculpture for making moulds and casts.
