What does NRE mean?
Non-Resident External (NRE) is a bank account meant for a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) or a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) to transfer foreign income earned outside India. Only foreign currency can be deposited into an NRE account and will be converted into Indian Rupee at the time of deposit. NRE accounts are tax exempted.
