The National Highway (now part of the AusLink National Network) is a system of roads connecting all the States and Territories of Australia, and is the major network of highways connecting Australia’s largest and most important cities.The National Highway was financed entirely by the Federal Government, though State and Territory Governments are responsible for the actual construction and maintenance of the roads that form part of the National Highway.
