Modular Transverse Matrix (German: Modularer Querbaukasten, MQB) is an architecture designed by Volkswagen Group. MQB architecture allows Volkswagen Group mainstream brands to develop a raft of new models that feature transverse-mounted engines on the same assembly line. According to Volkswagen Group, MBQ architecture promises to optimize production costs and processes by allowing Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat to share more components, subsystems and technologies.
