What does MPGe mean?

Miles Per Gallon equivalent (MPGe) or Miles Per Gallon gasoline-equivalent (MPGge), is an energy efficiency metric that measures the efficiency of alternative-fuel (including electric) vehicles.
MPGe was introduced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2010 as a means to compare the amount of energy consumed by vehicles using alternative fuels to those of traditional gasoline-powered engines.
MPGe shows the efficiency of vehicles that run on non-liquid fuels, such as hybrid and electric models.

Note:
Miles Per Gallon (MPG) measures how many miles the vehicle is able to travel using one gallon of gasoline. Since hybrid and fully electric vehicles don’t always need gasoline to operate, MPGe is a more useful metric for comparing energy consumption. When comparing MPGe, a higher number is better (more efficient).
