Earth Overshoot Day (EOD), previously known as Ecological Debt Day (EDD), represents the calculated date within a given year when humanity has consumed more natural resources and generated more waste than the Earth is capable of regenerating and absorbing within that year.
In other words, it is the date on which humanity's ecological footprint exceeds the Earth's biocapacity for that year.
