Digital Camera Images (DCIM) is a universal standard for storing digital image in memory devices by the digital camera industry to insure interoperability from one brand to the next. DCIM folder and its layout come from DCF, a standard created back in 2003. DCF is a specification created by Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA).
