What does COB mean?
Chip On Board (COB) refers to the mounting of the chip directly on a circuit board and covered with a coating of epoxy or resin to protect and insulates the chip and its connections. The coating also acts as a heatsink that enables thermal management and a significant reduction in the package profile. The technology is widely used to mound dense array of Light-Emitting Diode (LED) on a substrate.
