What does CKD mean?
Complete Knock-Down (CKD) or Completely Knocked Down (CKD), refers to completely disassembled products or goods that need to be assembled. The parts are typically manufactured in one country/region then exported to another country/region for final assembly.
In the automotive industry, it refers to a form of production of vehicles in which the vehicle manufacturer imports not-assembled vehicles in the form of individual parts and are assembled into a finished vehicle in the respective country of import and sold there. CKD units generally have a lower import duty than a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit.
