What does ART mean?
Acoustic Resonance Technology (ART) is an acoustic inspection technology. It can be used for several areas of use such as wall thickness measurements of water, oil and gas pipelines, and characterization of materials on the inside of a pipeline.
ART is based on analyzing the resonance of half-wave spectrums in solid-state materials like steel. The spectrum is created by sending a broad-banded acoustic signal into the material. The half-wave resonance energy and frequency spectrum that is reflected towards the transducer is dependent on the acoustic properties of the material, but also the acoustic properties of the media between the transducer and the material where the resonance is created.
