What does WBS mean?
Williams–Beuren Syndrome (WBS) or Williams syndrome (WS), is a genetic disease characterized by congenital heart disease, unusual facial features. and variable abnormalities in different systems.
Williams syndrome is named after Dr. John Cyprian Phipps (JCP) Williams, a New Zealand cardiologist who discovered the syndrome in 1961. A year later, A. J. Beuren, a German physician, identified three new patients with identical symptoms. The syndrome was given its full name, Williams-Beuren syndrome, as a result of this.
