What does PAL mean?
Personalized Assistant that Learns (PAL) was a DARPA program to create intelligent software assistants for military officers. These systems can reason, learn from experience, be told what to do, explain their actions, and respond robustly to surprise. CALO, a prototype cognitive system developed as part of the PAL program, serves as an office assistant that helps information workers be more organized and more productive in their daily activities.
