Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Latin: Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae), are the two first professional undergraduate medical degrees awarded upon graduation from medical school in medicine and surgery by universities in various countries. The English and Latin version combined to form the abbreviation MBBS (ie Medicinae Baccalaureus and Bachelor of Surgery). In fact their are different abbreviations used for these degrees in different countries like MBChB, MB BChir, BM BCh, MB BCh, MB ChB, BM BS, BM, BMed etc.
